Troop 19 camps most months of the year. Camping trips and outdoor activities provide the Scouts with situations where they practice and hone their leadership, team work, and Scout Skills. ... And have lots of FUN!

 

Needed equipment includes:

 

 

Camping Equipment

  • Tent/with ground cloth* (2 person max. Scouts sleep 1 to 2 per tent)
  • Sleeping Bag (mummy style, 20 degree comfort rating)
  • Sleeping Pad (R factor of 4+)
  • Mess Kit & Eating Utensils
  • Flashlight / Headlamp
  • Water Bottle 
  • Day Pack
  • Camping Backpack (~60L capacity. Duffle bag can substitute for the first few trips)
  • Camp pillow (optional)

Clothing for Camping (Layer for warmth. Wool is best)

  • Warm Jacket/Sweater
  • Rain Raincoat or Poncho
  • Socks, wool strongly recommended
  • Gloves / mittens
  • Hat (wool hat for winter, sun hat for summer)
  • Hiking boots

Troop 19 recommends shopping at REI on Rt 10 in East Hanover. REI is staffed with knowledgeable professionals, offer a good warranty, and have reasonable prices with a good selection. 

* a think plastic sheet cut to the size of the tent is an inexpensive alternative.
