SCOUTING EXPERIENCE

With over 50 active Scouts Troop 19 offers young women year-round opportunities for adventure, personal growth, advancement, and service to the community.

Troop 19 meets every Thursday in Short Hills (September through June) from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. We have a campout nearly every month, additional monthly activities, and various options for summer time engagement.

Adventure - Our Scouts plan our troop's year-round program with the support and guidance of our adult leaders. Activities include camping, hiking, climbing, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding. We also hold monthly campouts and attend various summer camps to enjoy outdoor activities, earn merit badges, develop leadership skills, and have fun.

Personal Growth and Leadership - Our Troop delivers a program designed by scouts and run by scouts. Our scouts lead our weekly meetings with an agenda and specific activities to help accomplish their goals and make progress on their personal advancement.

Advancement - Our scouts want a program that develops strong leaders. Troop 19 will provide opportunities for Scouts to earn their Eagle, the highest achievement in the Scouts BSA program, and is a testament to the recipient's exceptional character and embodiment of the Scout Law.

Community Service - Troop 19 has very strong ties to our community in Millburn, NJ. We offer volunteer opportunities with St. Rose of Lima Church, the Wyoming Presbyterian Church, American Legion, Millburn Township, and many more!

Adult Support - A Scout-led troop’s success is tied to the support of our adult leaders and volunteers. Troop 19 has an abundance of experienced and trained Scout leaders, including numerous Eagle Scouts. We have strong parental and community support for our merit badge program so our Scouts can explore and earn a wide variety of merit badges. Also, thanks to the number of actively involved parents, Troop 19's adult to Scout ratio is very low. This means that our Scout-led troop has a great group of parents to call upon for program support during meetings, campouts, recognition ceremonies, parties, and other activities.

New Scouts - Troop 19 has the right leadership and skill-based foundation in place to support growth. The Scout leadership team has already 5 scouts who have earned the rank of Eagle. Several scouts have attended National Youth Leadership Training and many are members of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's national honor society. We draw our members from Essex, Union, Somerset, and Morris County.
