Troop 19 relies on dedicated adult volunteers to support the girls in their Scouting journey. After verbal approval from the Charter Organization Representative, please complete the steps below to complete your registration with the BSA and St Rose of Lima.  Thank you for your support!

Steps to Register as an Adult Volunteer with Troop 19

  1. Print and complete, by hand, the volunteer applications (BSA and St Rose - 8 pages in total).
  2. Create an account on my.scouting.org and login. Complete the online Safeguarding Youth Training course (formerly Youth Protection Training) and pass the test. Print the certificate.
  3. Bring the printed volunteer applications and Safeguarding Youth Certificate to Jim McKenna or Frank Reda at a Thursday Troop Meeting.

  4. Create an account on Virtus and schedule a Protecting God's Children session. Please:
    1. Be sure to link your account to the Archdiocese of Newark and St Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills. (Do not select St Rose of Lima School / Academy or other St Rose of Lima churches).
    2. Complete this training within three months of BSA registration.
    3. Pay for the background check and then submit to Troop 19 for reimbursement - please do NOT ask the church to pay for it.

NOTE:

  • Electronic signatures / forms are not accepted by the BSA. These must be completed by hand.
  • Timely completion of each of these steps is required to retain active membership.
